Last year my team ran the McLaren at Daytona, where it’s an absolute rocketship.

I have heard the McLaren is a really good car to drive. It looks like they might not run it, but I included it in case they decide to allow it

Yea, I should have checked that. According to staff on the forums, it will be the German GT3s joining the C7DP. The Audi is probably the quickest round Daytona out of that lot.

hmm, didn’t catch the staff comments. I just saw the early event post, but had not heard any official confirmation...

It’s in this thread, near the bottom of the first page.
Did your team do Le Mans?

Huh I must have missed it. I will edit the post accordingly.
No I did not do the 24 Hours of LeMans. Most of the endurance races last year fell either when I had to work or travel, bad luck. Hopefully we can get enough interest and have the Oppo team in all of them this year.

Prototype because more adjustability and because when you’re used to the L79, sports cars just don’t feel right.

I think first you need to decide between GTD and P. If you go GTD then pick which one. I’ve done the 2.4 hours of daytona once in a GTD and once in the old DP. For an event like this I think I would be inclined towards the Prototype unless you’ve got a new member or two signed up. Then go with the car that is the easiest to drive (not the fastest). In a 24 hour race the team that spends the least amount of time pointed the wrong way or in the pits usually finishes on the podium.

Do we have an update on driver lists yet or did I miss that?

For the moment I have no formal drivers list. I only have a few people who are interested from the comments on this post . I should put together a formal sign up for shouldn’t I? I will have that soon...

A valid point. GT3 cars are a bit better for newer drivers. I know for myself, I cannot drive a F1 car because the car goes faster than my brain can comprehend. I am a little worried about that with the Prototype, but Daytona is a fairly easy road course so I think I could learn it.
If there is a substantial amount of people interested in driving different cars. We could enter two teams.
I think our team’s main goal is to make it across the line at the finish.

The old DP was actually pretty easy to drive. I’ve not tried the new one so I can’t comment on it, but it’s entirely possible that the DP is easier to drive than some of the GT3 cars. I believe the Audi is likely the most difficult to drive.

Ok thanks for the info. I only have driven the Ruf and that one has a bit of a learning curve. Coming from stock cars I can see the appeal of the FR setup GT3 cars.
One key thing about the new DP is that it is RHD. Now it may be because I am a terrible road racer, but that shift into RHD really throws off my markers, especially on corner entry of tracks that I am familiar with. However, it just takes time to get out of those habits.

I thought the DP was more of a McLaren F1 style center drive. If it is RHD that’s shocking really. That said i had no problems with the HPD for Le Mans coming from the Formula Renault.

yep, IIRC the C7 prototype they got was a RHD Coyote chassis.
I think there were multiple configurations of the C7 prototype some with LHD, center drive, and the RHD iR got. It was all dependent on the chassis builder.

Add me to that mental list, if you don’t mind, meant to comment on that last post and didn’t for some reason. I’ll leave a post there just to be safe.
